Cat Gladiator lets armor improve the items as well as the cat
PREVIEW · Official Steam listing · Not played · Sources checked Oct 9, 2026. Our method.

A new armor piece in Cat Gladiator can be about the item you use between weapon attacks. The official description says boss materials forge armor that improves attack, defense and critical stats or item efficiency, including cooldown and casting speed. Equipment can support how you deploy an item, not only how hard the cat hits.
The listed inventory includes traps, BoomBuckets, healing potions and basketball bombs. Those names establish the intended breadth of the toolkit without documenting each effect. The page gives no armor set or cooldown value, so it cannot support a specific repeat-use combination or a claim that an item build outdamages a weapon-focused one.
Fishing connects to preparation too: different fish are described as granting different stat bonuses before battle. That is a separate selection from forging armor, and the source does not assign a particular bonus to a named fish. Together, the systems advertise more than one way to prepare for an arena boss.
The useful decision is what the equipment should make easier. If your interest lies in traps, healing and other tactical items, look for the armor’s support of their use. If it lies in the weapon’s own rhythm, direct combat stats may be the relevant comparison. The described system gives both questions a place in the loadout.
Sources & context
The listing supplies categories of armor and item support, not exact sets, item effects, cooldown values or an optimal build. The September 22 Heavy Staff mention is a developer update statement, not a test of its behavior.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
