A difficult boss can demand another attempt without demanding another introduction. Dark Farts: Parody Smell Edition’s Patch 1.2 announcement says boss retries now return to the fight without replaying its opening, and completed conversations stay completed.

That is a consequential change in a game whose store description sells fourth-wall jokes and a deliberately crude Souls-like parody. A joke encountered for the first time and a joke placed between every failed attempt have different jobs. Preserving the conversation’s completed state lets the next attempt concentrate on the obstacle that remains.

The same patch specifically adds checkpoints throughout Level 7. It does not establish checkpoint coverage throughout the entire game, and the developer’s account is not a tested guarantee that progress always saves correctly. It does identify a smaller unit of repetition than replaying that whole level.

A negative English report posted October 8, with 99 minutes at review, describes losing progress after apparently breaking an early sequence and having to rewatch a cutscene. That account postdates Patch 1.2, but its build and exact location are unknown. It does not directly test the Level 7 change; it does prevent the patch note from becoming a claim that all repeated scenes or progress-loss risks are gone.

For someone attracted by the ridiculous premise, the useful thing to inspect is the retry itself. The patch claims to retain the fight while removing two kinds of already finished work: travelling through a larger stretch of Level 7 and listening again. Whether the battle is worth mastering remains a separate question, but the route back to it now has a stated purpose beyond another serving of the same joke.

Sources & context

Patch 1.2 is the source for these reported changes. Checkpoints are specifically announced for Level 7; their placement, reliability and the combat were not tested. A negative English account posted October 8 at 99 minutes was read in full. It postdates the patch but has an unknown build and describes a different, unspecified early sequence; it cannot directly disprove the Level 7 checkpoint change.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
