A browser window titled Trash shows a grid of pixel-art item icons. The page says 10,324 entries were deleted by user Nullbane on 14 Mar 2007, 03:12 AM. Seven category folders sit in the sidebar, and the sorting aids are marked Locked.

Deleted Wiki hands you a trash folder of 10,324 items and the job of dragging them home. The listing says a user called Nullbane emptied the Item Vault of a 2007 fan wiki at 3:12 AM on 14 March 2007. The pages are still in the deletion log. You are the new moderator.

The drag has three stops. First the seven category folders: Weapons, Armor, Consumables, Materials, Skills & Status, Interface and Curios. Then the sub-folder, swords onto swords. Then the row. A finished row pays a Completion Point. Ordinary placements pay Sorting Points. Those points are how Wren, who will not sort anything himself, sells you userscripts: multiselect a stack, pull copies together, and later hand the pile to SortBot and AutoRestore.

The Embercraft Item Vault trash page, a grid of pixel items under a note that Nullbane deleted 10,324 entries.

The trash page shows the full 10,324 and the seven folders. Autosort, AutoRestore and Highlight are marked Locked, and both point counters read 0. A still does not show a script placing an item. Official Steam screenshot; supplied by the developer.

Wren writes the scripts and will not sort. The page counts 12 userscripts, from Multiselect to AutoRestore. Ordinary placements pay Sorting Points. A finished row pays a Completion Point, and that point buys the strongest scripts. Three challenge modes and one secret mode are listed beside the ladder. They are other ways to use the same 10,324 items. The page does not say they change which folder an item belongs in. Ten music tracks and three save profiles are on the same feature list. They are not the drag.

The talk page is a second screen. News from The Embercraft Herald, updates from Wren, guild drama you were not invited to, and offers from companies arrive while the trash is still full. The items belonged to a 2004 MMO, Plains of Embercraft: Online, and the page says the vault held two years of fan work. Nothing is gone. It is in the deletion log. None of the talk-page mail files an item.

That lock is the decision. Early on, an item moves only because you picked the folder. Later, the listing says the scripts start showing you exactly where everything goes. The interesting spend is the first Completion Point: buy the tool that gathers a stack, or keep the sorting long enough to learn which icon belongs in Curios. The store page supports the size of the backlog and the order in which help arrives. It does not say how often an item could honestly fit two folders, which is the moment a script’s certainty would matter.

Sources & context

Store page rechecked October 9. The 10,324 count, the 14 March 2007 wipe, the seven category names, the twelve scripts, the challenge modes and the talk page are the listing's. No player reviews were used. The screenshot shows the trash page with those controls locked; it does not show a script moving an item.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
