A partly used box still counts as a box in Farm Factory Simulator’s Daily Supplies system. The developer’s Version 0.5.75 explanation says replenishment checks matching boxes in a Supply Drop Area when you use End Day. It buys enough boxes to reach the configured target, rather than calculating the missing contents of every opened box.

The developer gives a concrete example: a target of ten Small Tomato Boxes with two matching boxes present orders eight more. A partly used matching box still contributes one to that count. The distinction matters before treating a target as a guaranteed amount of usable produce.

Both commodity and box size must match. The same commodity in another size is a different entry, and an active list automatically sells nonmatching nonempty boxes left in that area at End Day. The announcement explicitly includes manually purchased or harvested boxes among possible cases. Setting up recurring purchases also assigns the area a rule about what it keeps.

Capacity and money add another decision. Each area allows up to 45 boxes in these calculations, including those already present. If space or funds are insufficient, the system skips what it cannot supply; list order determines which entries are processed first. That gives ordering a practical consequence beyond making the configuration tidy.

Daily Supplies unlocks at Player Level 20 and applies to commodity supply areas. An empty list is inactive and triggers neither automatic purchases nor automatic selling. Those limits make it possible to distinguish merely storing boxes from placing them under a replenishment policy.

The farm-to-store operation promises automation across production and retail. This is a specific place to inspect that promise: before ending the day, ask which boxes count, which boxes disappear and which entry gets the limited space first. The automation is doing exactly the job described only when that job matches the inventory you intended to keep.

Sources & context

Version 0.5.75 supplies the Daily Supplies algorithm, including its own worked tomato-box example. Only the relevant automation sections were inspected; no actual order, sale or balancing outcome was tested.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
