Finding Polka includes boat racing, golf and volleyball, but its developer says none of those mini-games is required for story progression. That is a useful promise in a game about chasing a dog: a tempting detour need not become homework before the search can continue.

Frendy and Jazz follow a dog resembling Frendy’s childhood companion. The world communicates through expressions, gestures and sound effects rather than dialogue. High-fives establish friendships, and the developer describes friends as helpers when trouble arrives. The source does not specify what an individual friend does, so a high-five cannot be turned into an invented solution to a later obstacle.

The optional activities supply another way to spend time in that world. Their advertised independence from the story means you can choose a soccer shootout because you want the shootout, rather than because the next plot step demands it. It does not establish whether side rewards exist or whether every other interaction is equally optional.

That distinction makes the search easier to understand before playing. Follow the dog when the mystery pulls you forward; stop at a game when the activity itself catches your attention. Finding Polka’s stated invitation is to wander without making every diversion a condition of getting on with the adventure.

Sources & context

The official description establishes optionality, not the absence of side rewards. It does not describe a particular friend’s assistance, a puzzle solution or the time needed to find Polka.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
