GnollHack’s automatic packing is cautious about a wand you have not identified. Its official auto-stashing guide says that, while a relevant wand type remains unidentified, wands are treated as possible cancellation hazards and sent only to normal sacks. The system avoids putting a dangerous cancellation item into a magic bag.

That gives identification a practical connection to convenience. Owning a magic container is not enough to make it a suitable automatic destination for every object. What is known about the item affects what the packing system will do with it.

The useful discovery is an automated action with a stated limit. If you enjoy a roguelike where knowledge changes how ordinary inventory tasks behave, watch what the packing system refuses to assume. A plain sack can be the deliberate destination, rather than evidence that automatic sorting has forgotten the fancy bag.

The current official wiki describes the modern version. No iOS build was tested; legacy versions and manual packing are outside this account. Wiki illustrations are explicitly not gameplay captures and are not used here.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
