The Magus Circle says a badly drawn sigil still casts.
PREVIEW · Official Steam listing · Not played · Sources checked Oct 9, 2026. Our method.

The Magus Circle casts by drawing. The listing says you do not need to be an artist: even a crudely drawn sigil still holds the spell. The vocabulary around that line is larger than one star. The page says 20 unique spells, augmented by 600 possible upgrades, fought across 4 planets. You play as one of 6 mages, each with a skill tree, abilities and what the page calls emotional baggage. Familiars, wagers, potions and a garden are other progression on the same list. They sit beside the draw.
The same page knows the line takes time you may not have. Drawing can slow or freeze the fight, or a button can cast instead. It recommends one of those for a controller. A mouse, drawing tablet or touch screen is the recommendation otherwise. If the tablet uses Microsoft Ink, the page says to disable that setting or the drawings will not work. That is a qualification of the cast itself: a line the hardware will not accept does not become the crude sigil the spell is willing to forgive.

Spend the second on a careful line, or on a bad one the page says will still fire. What a crooked star does differently from a neat one is not in the listing. The 600 upgrades change the spell after it exists. They do not, on this page, grade the stroke. The finished star in the screenshot is already closed, at 12:00, with fire falling. It cannot show the slowed clock, the Ink setting, or the button that skips the line.

Store page rechecked October 9. Crude sigils, the 20 spells, the 600 upgrades, the six mages, the slow or frozen draw, the button mode and the Microsoft Ink note are the listing's. The screenshot shows a finished five-point star during a fight at 12:00. It does not show a hand drawing, a clock slowing, or the button mode. No player reviews were used.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
