Miseria’s Challenge Mode makes the next reroll more expensive

Miseria’s Challenge Mode gives refusing an upgrade offer a rising cost. Its Version 1.1.0 release announcement presents three random passive-tree upgrades after every two floors. You choose one, or reroll at a cost higher than the previous reroll.
That makes an imperfect offer worth evaluating before dismissing it. A reroll can produce another set of options, but the source does not promise a better result or name the currency charged. The supported tension is accepting something usable now against paying more to search again.
A separate purchase appears every ten floors: the Blacksmith can recruit a random new character for gold. The randomness is not limited to passive upgrades, and recruitment does not promise a particular missing party member. The announcement gives reasons to plan across several floors without supplying a deterministic build recipe.
These decisions belong to a mode unlocked after finishing the main campaign. The goal is Floor 90 in one run, with no return to town or earlier floors; party death ends the attempt and loses its progress. The base game describes automatic fighting and a permanent-upgrade Reborn cycle, but those descriptions should not erase the Challenge Mode’s explicitly stated attempt loss.
For someone drawn to shaping a party rather than directing each strike, the consequential moment is the offer between fights. Ask whether the current upgrade is useful to this party before paying to imagine a different one. The next reroll is advertised as more expensive, and the dungeon does not offer a trip back to town to reconsider.
Sources & context
Version 1.1.0 confirms the mode’s release after an earlier development announcement. The reroll currency and exact prices are not supplied; gold is explicitly named only for Blacksmith recruitment. No full campaign or challenge run was tested.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
