Silence looks like a sensible disguise until Moo Who? sends the flies. In the official description, animal players hide among NPC herds, but a sound-pressure moment requires them to imitate their assigned species into a microphone. Miss it and buzzing flies appear around you, making your location easier for hunters to spot.

That gives hiding two different exposures. Making the sound offers hunters a performance to judge; failing to make it produces a visible marker. The source specifies cows, chickens, pigs and sheep, so the role decides which imitation you owe. It does not document how the software evaluates the sound or how long the swarm lasts.

The hunters have their own reason to hesitate: the developer says shooting the wrong animal wastes a chance. The description does not define the exact ammunition or retry penalty, but it does establish that an accusation has a cost. The interesting encounter is between an animal obliged to make itself heard and a hunter obliged to decide whether that sound deserves a shot. A convincing moo buys something silence cannot promise.

Sources & context

The official description establishes the missed-sound marker, but not the deadline length, voice-recognition method or how long the flies persist. Microphone accessibility and recognition accuracy were not tested.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
