Nightwater lets a factory layout be provisional. The official description says machines can be moved or deconstructed at any time without losing items. Farmers, assemblers and storage connect through pipes, but the first arrangement does not have to become a permanent material commitment.

That gives a changed production chain a practical question: should the layout change with it? Item preservation makes rearrangement worth considering, without proving it has no cost in time or interrupted output. Those details are not documented in the listing.

An optional detour can also feed the factory. The developer says minigames unlock buildings, crafts and buffs usable outside them. Stepping away from the production line is therefore advertised as another way to develop it, not simply a break with no connection to the main system.

If you like automation because a working arrangement can become a better one, examine Nightwater’s recovery rule. The interesting factory is not necessarily the first that works; the listing gives you permission to reconsider it.

Sources & context

The official description supports item preservation on moving or deconstructing. It does not define every recoverable component, rebuilding time or production interruption. Minigame rewards are developer descriptions, not measured efficiency gains.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
