Puzzle Retreat gives a sliding block a route that need not stay straight. The official description sets the goal as filling every hole with the blocks, then introduces Arrow Blocks that change a sliding block’s direction. The first direction you choose is not necessarily the direction in which the journey ends.

That makes order important alongside destination. Before sliding, consider the path through the special blocks, rather than only whether a hole lies ahead. The listing names Fire Blocks, Stop Blocks and Bonsai Trees too, but does not define enough of their behavior to prescribe a combined solution.

It also permits leaving a stuck puzzle for another and returning later. That gives the player an alternative to repeatedly committing the same unsuccessful sequence. If you enjoy tracing an action through a board before making it, investigate the arrows first. The hole tells you what needs filling; the route determines how a block can get there.

Sources & context

The official listing supports direction-changing arrows and optional puzzle order. It names other special blocks without defining their complete behavior, so no invented Fire/Stop/Bonsai interaction or solved board is supplied.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
