Qianli turns a path meeting water into a dock
PREVIEW · Official Steam listing · Not played · Sources checked Oct 9, 2026. Our method.

A path reaching water becomes a dock in Qianli: The Vastscape Scroll, according to the developer’s description. That is a useful reason to place two pieces together: the meeting creates a feature rather than merely extending the board.
A second advertised example puts a trail near a famed peak and reveals the gates of an ancient temple. Both examples make a route a relationship with a destination. Water and mountain are more than backgrounds for the path, although the source does not show the precise orientation or distance required to trigger either interaction.
The developer also says terrain restrictions do not limit placement. That separates permission to put down a piece from discovering what the piece can do beside another one. Free placement does not mean every arrangement has the same result, and no unsupported score bonus is needed to explain the dock’s appeal.
Creation Mode removes scores and advertised limitations, while other modes introduce exploration or challenge. If the attraction is composing a landscape, the useful question is what happens when two parts meet. A route toward the water may be pleasing on its own; the stated dock interaction gives the experiment something specific to reveal.

The examples come from the developer’s text. Their exact tile orientation, activation range and scoring effects were not demonstrated. Unrestricted terrain placement does not establish that every adjacency creates an interaction.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
