Cooperation in THE CANON OF BALLS is a choice about how your group behaves. The developer’s description explicitly says no mechanics require multiple players and that the game can be completed offline alone. Its multiplayer courses do not prescribe one shared objective.

The examples are concrete: race to a crystal, or navigate together and wait for the person behind. Those are different agreements about the same platforming space. A player moving ahead can be winning the group’s race or abandoning the group’s chosen pace, depending on what everyone decided to do.

The world also lacks minimaps, quest markers and tutorials, according to the listing. That supports an advertised interest in finding your way, without proving the routes are readable or every group enjoys being lost. The useful expectation is the developer’s own qualification of co-op: shared presence is offered, while mandatory team mechanics are not. Before rolling out together, decide what reaching the crystal together is supposed to mean.

Sources & context

The developer explicitly qualifies the co-op label and states offline solo completion. This does not establish online stability, actual community behavior, checkpoint rules or accessibility. Missing minimaps and tutorials are advertised, not tested.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
