Earning an upgrade need not mean taking its help immediately. In Patch 1.0.7, Tidy Up History’s developer makes the skill screen skippable and re-openable, with ability points stored for later. The announcement explicitly presents the change as a way to skip helping abilities.

That matters in a museum restoration game whose description asks you to learn what objects are and put them where they belong. Discovering a rightful place can itself be the attraction. Saving a point preserves the option to make that discovery without immediately replacing part of the work with a tool.

The helpers are also specific enough to choose between. Patch 1.0.5 says Contractor Vision highlights crates and fixable objects, while Lost & Found can place objects found inside crates. Locating something and putting it away are different jobs. Wanting help with one does not automatically mean wanting both.

Patch 1.0.7 adds a toggle for Historian as well. The sources do not establish a complete route with every upgrade refused, so optional helpers should not become a promise that the whole campaign needs none. The supported invitation is narrower and useful: restoration progress does not force an immediate decision to use these aids. You can leave the points waiting while deciding which museum task you still enjoy doing by hand.

Sources & context

Patch 1.0.5 and 1.0.7 describe different helper functions and optional use. This does not establish that every task is completable without any cleaning upgrade; no restoration route was tested.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
