TV Archive: Tidy Up Together separates finding the shelf from ordering its tapes
PREVIEW · Official Steam listing · Not played · Sources checked Oct 9, 2026. Our method.

Finding the shelf and ordering its contents are separate tasks in TV Archive: Tidy Up Together. The official skill list highlights the correct shelf for the topmost held videotape, sorts held tapes numerically, and offers auto-placement that puts tapes on the shelf in the correct order.
Those tools assist different stages of the job. The highlight supplies a destination, numerical sorting organizes what you carry, and auto-placement handles the shelf arrangement. The source does not provide an actual tape label or tie-breaking rule, so it cannot support a worked sequence. It does establish that belonging to a category is not the only advertised organizing requirement.
The archive includes categories ranging from action films and documentaries to tennis and cooking shows. Sandbox Mode makes all skills available and always ready; No-Skill Mode asks you to work without them. That choice determines how much of the destination-and-ordering process you want assistance with. A full shelf is the visible result, but the particular job is putting each tape where its category and order say it belongs.

The official description defines numerical sorting, correct-order placement and topmost-tape highlighting. It does not document tie-breaking, exact tape labels or whether sorting manually changes the highlight reference. Sandbox and No-Skill modes are advertised, not tested.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
