A XenoHaven recruit can help with the kitchen as well as the next expedition. The official description lets you assign familiars to jobs such as farming, mining, cooking and crafting, then develop their attributes for a combat squad. The companion is useful on both sides of the base boundary.

That makes recruitment more interesting than filling another empty battle slot. The base also produces goods for a shop and food for a restaurant, according to the developer. A worker belongs to that production effort, while a fighter belongs to the party you are preparing for dangerous dungeons and rival factions. The listing does not explain whether leaving on an expedition suspends a particular worker’s job, so there is no basis for inventing a mandatory labour shortage.

Instead, the supported question is about development: does this newcomer give you the help you need at home, the attributes you want in combat, or a reason to build toward both? XenoHaven earns a closer look through that double role. Inspect the actual assignment and deployment rules before assuming your busiest cook can also be everywhere else.

Sources & context

Job assignments and combat development are official descriptions. The listing does not establish whether a familiar can work while deployed, or quantify late-game balance; those details are deliberately left open.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
