Akatori

Akatori’s companion does not remain beside the weapon: it becomes it. The developer describes a red bird that transforms into Mako’s staff, then gives the staff jobs in both combat and exploration. Wall climbing and gliding belong to the same central relationship as striking an enemy.

The page says new staff abilities open ways to explore. That makes an ability worth reading as more than a combat improvement. A traversal function can change which part of the world you can approach, although the description supplies no specific blocked passage or unlock sequence. It would be an invented walkthrough to name the wall a later ability must overcome.

Gliding, sliding down slopes and climbing walls also imply different ways of reading terrain. The useful distinction is the movement each surface permits, rather than treating the staff as one interchangeable attack tool. This follows the functions the developer names; it does not establish their precision, speed or responsiveness.

The story’s amber storms provide the reason Mako travels, while the companion supplies a concrete means of doing so. Investigate Akatori for that connection: when the staff gains a new function, ask what it lets you reach as well as what it lets you hit. The bird’s role is advertised to grow through the journey itself.
