All Who Wander advertises a traditional roguelike, then puts a useful exception beside permadeath: Casual and Adventure modes. The Android description and iOS listing also say there is no meta-progression. How a death is handled and whether repeated runs build permanent strength are separate parts of the invitation.

That distinction matters before choosing a mode. A player interested in learning through repeated attempts may want a different consequence from someone protecting one developing expedition. The listing does not give the full recovery rules, so an exception to permadeath should not become an invented promise about retained equipment or checkpoints.

Inside a run, the developer gives a concrete environmental contrast: tall grass provides cover, while sand dunes slow movement. The route therefore concerns terrain effects as well as destinations. If turn-based positioning appeals but permanent death does not, investigate the mode’s exact recovery rules before dismissing the whole adventure. The label on the genre is less informative than the settings beside it.

Sources & context

Both mobile listings and the developer’s linked press kit state the Casual/Adventure exception. Exact recovery behavior and executable parity were not tested. Presented Android reviews and the iOS RSS sample are retained as context, not representative current-defect evidence.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
