Your turn is not a truce in Chainsaw. The official description says enemies keep attacking the apostles even during the player’s turn. The developer’s real-time turn-based label refers to a particular overlap: choosing an action does not promise that danger has stopped.

That gives preparation before battle a direct purpose. Equipment and formation are decisions you can consider before the continuing attacks begin. The listing says some weapons gain different effects from formation, but supplies no example effect, so there is no supported formation recommendation or exact safe decision window.

The interesting question is how much thinking you want to do while an opponent remains active. The source does not document pause menus or the attack cadence, and those details should not be inferred from the label alone. What it does support is the need to distinguish command ownership from time ownership. It can be your turn to choose without being your turn to act unopposed.

Sources & context

The official description establishes attacks during the player’s turn, but not input timing, pause-menu behavior, damage cadence or the effect of a particular formation. Future chapters are promised as free updates; the completed story’s scope is not established.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
