Craftomation 101’s robot is a worker with a supply problem. The official description gives you visual blocks for gathering resources, combining materials and delivering supplies. It also says robots need fuel and the growing base needs heat.

That makes a production routine responsible for more than its final item. The workforce carrying out the plan has to be sustained too. The developer’s stated goal is a crew that gathers, makes more robots and keeps itself fed: automation that includes the conditions for continuing to automate.

No consumption rate or fuel recipe appears in the description, so it cannot establish where a particular program will fail. It does establish why simply repeating a crafting order may be an incomplete plan. The next question is whether the routine also provides what its workers require.

If you enjoy watching a program become a functioning system, Craftomation 101 offers a concrete complication to investigate. The robot that solves your chore introduces another chore, and the advertised ambition is to give that one a routine too.

Sources & context

The Steam description supports visual routines, robot fuel and base heat. It gives no fuel recipe, consumption rate, failure timing or heat-propagation model. No self-sustaining program was built or tested.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
