You can bid for a card because it completes your hand—or because it completes someone else’s. The official description of One Last Hand explicitly offers both motives in its secret auction before combat. Cards are not simply dealt to the players who will then fight with them.

Tied bids go to a dice decision, so matching another offer does not guarantee the card. The listing does not publish a budget or explain how winners pay, leaving the economics of a particular bid unknown. What it does establish is that acquiring a useful piece and denying an opponent that piece happen at the same table.

The main hand becomes an attack, while the backup hand helps defend. Pairs, straights and flushes are advertised combinations, but no damage table is supplied. That gives the auction a concrete destination without pretending it is ordinary poker: the cards are preparation for a battle against the people bidding beside you. A card can be worth considering for the hand it prevents as well as the hand it creates.

Sources & context

The official description supports hidden bidding, dice-resolved ties and separate attack/backup roles, but not bid budgets, auction prices or a damage formula. Listed character lore and fictional currency are not real-money stakes.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
