Summoner Wars gives a hand card another use, with a longer consequence. The official online quick guide lets you discard cards from hand for Magic, one per card. The same guide says an empty draw pile does not reshuffle the discard.

That puts a resource decision beside the urge to bring more units onto the battlefield. A discarded card helps fund the present, but the normal draw rule does not promise to cycle that card back into a later hand. Magic and available cards are connected, without being interchangeable reserves.

The guide separately lets you earn Magic by destroying enemy cards, so discarding is not its only advertised source. Which source fits a turn depends on the actual battlefield and hand. This explanation follows the published online rules rather than a tested iOS match.

If you enjoy a tactical card game where financing a move is itself a commitment, investigate the discard choice. Ask what the Magic buys now and which future option the card represented.

Sources & context

The account follows the current official online quick guide. The iOS executable was not tested, and card-specific exceptions are outside this introductory rule explanation. No claim of optimal Magic conversion follows.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
