The Piper of Dawn
The Piper of Dawn grows workers who still need recovery time
PREVIEW · Official Steam listing · Not played · Sources checked Oct 9, 2026. Our method.

The Piper of Dawn lets an alchemist grow the workers as well as the ingredients. Its official description calls them Peoplesprouts and assigns them to farming, retail and manufacturing. The important qualification follows immediately: match their talents to the job, give them time to recover, and remember that overwork takes a toll on Sanity.
That turns automation into a staffing decision rather than a promise that work has ceased to need attention. Talents concern who should do a job; recovery concerns how you sustain that arrangement. The page does not give a threshold that would justify a particular shift pattern, or tell us exactly what a Sanity loss does.
The useful tension is already present without those numbers. Expanding an alchemy business means organizing a workforce that the fiction lets you cultivate, but the rules still ask you to accommodate. If you enjoy automation most when it creates new management questions, the Peoplesprouts supply one with roots attached.
Sources & context
The listing names jobs, talent matching, recovery and Sanity, but gives no overwork threshold or recovery rate. No loss, strike or permanent injury is inferred from the Sanity wording.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
