A tidy arrangement is not necessarily the right answer in The Sorting Bureau. The developer’s September 10 Update 1.0.7 adds cookies sorted by shape, dough, filling or flavor, alongside construction parts sorted by color or shape. The request chooses which distinction matters.

That is an attractive premise when reading the category becomes part of noticing an object. A cookie has more properties than its outline, and a small construction part need not belong with everything of the same color. The patch also broadens accepted variants and makes labels depict dirt and rust. Those changes acknowledge that a useful category needs a readable boundary.

A negative English account posted October 10, with 310 minutes at review, finds several boundaries unintuitive. The writer reports a “candies” box accepting wrapped candy while sending other sweets elsewhere, and size categories that disagreed with their comparison of stamps and crackers. These are the reviewer’s examples, not independently reproduced solutions or universal defects.

The criticism also reaches free sorting. The same writer says the available number of boxes constrained an arrangement they wanted to make. In a positive English account posted October 9, with 42 minutes at review, another player loves grouping and stacking the objects and enjoys the freedom when it appears, but criticizes later demands about what counts as correct. Their recommendation preserves the attraction while identifying a similar limit.

Both accounts postdate Update 1.0.7, but their builds and full routes are unknown. They cannot prove that the patch’s individual fixes failed. They do show why more sorting rules are not automatically more satisfying: recognizing the game’s intended categories can diverge from organizing by distinctions that make sense to you.

The store promises no timers, penalties or scores, so this need not be a speed problem. The relevant counterexample is the enjoyment both the premise and the positive report retain when grouping objects feels intelligible or freely chosen. A prescribed answer can be satisfying when its boundary is clear; it becomes a different exercise when the label must be learned by disagreement.

If the workshop appeals, decide which part of sorting you want to own. Following a client’s classification is a supported attraction here. Choosing your own categories is a separate pleasure, and these selected reports give a reason to check how often the Bureau lets you have it.

Sources & context

The September 10 Update 1.0.7 precedes the selected English reports: October 10 negative at 310 minutes and October 9 positive at 42 minutes. Both were read in full. Their builds and full progression are unknown; the accounts cannot establish prevalence or show that a specific patch failed.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
