A bee escaping a cave might seem to want nothing more than open air. Tumblebee gives the ground a competing attraction: the developer’s build 107 announcement says you can hide under mushrooms. Landing can put something between a small body and the cave’s predators.
The store description combines flight and tumbling in a search for your family, with spiders inhabiting the cave. Cover changes how to read that space. A mushroom is potentially a place to stop, rather than simply another object to fly past. That does not establish that every mushroom works or that hiding guarantees safety.
The preceding build 106 makes the relationship more concrete. The developer enlarged the leaf hiding hitbox, made landing on sloped ground easier, and reduced stamina drain, spider detection range and patrol speed. Those are reported adjustments to the conditions of approaching, landing and staying unnoticed; their size and effectiveness remain unmeasured here.
Build 107 also reduced the bounce speed produced by mushrooms in their room. The same environment therefore participates in movement and shelter. If the miniature escape appeals, watch for the point where continuing to fly stops being the most useful response. A place beneath a mushroom may be more valuable than the space above it.

Rules attributed to builds 106 and 107; exact detection thresholds and present balance were not tested. A later announcement described hard mode as forthcoming, so it is not treated as available here.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
