WE ARE SO DEAD
WE ARE SO DEAD makes reading your ghost the co-op problem
ARGUMENT · Official Steam listing; two selected player reports · Not played · Sources checked Oct 9, 2026. Our method.

Seeing the answer does not complete the ritual in WE ARE SO DEAD. The official description makes a demon’s true name readable only to ghosts after all the relics are collected. The living must then spell it back. Winning requires getting exact information across the divide between the roles.
The earlier collection phase already depends on that divide. Ghosts see where the relics and dangers are; living players carry the pieces back. Ghosts can hear the living, but normal ghost speech cannot be heard by non-ghosts. A correct observation therefore needs a usable way to become someone else’s action.
The seance board supplies pointing, yes/no answers and slow spelling through its planchette. It is not the only advertised channel: ghosts can flicker lights, manipulate doors and attempt a scream that may be heard under quiet conditions. The developer calls the board the stable way to send full words, making it especially relevant when the ritual needs a name rather than a vague warning.
A Russian negative account posted October 7, with 300 minutes recorded at review, says the group used Discord for a task requiring a return to a particular location because they could not explain it through the game. That is one group’s reported failure of the channel, not proof that the task is impossible without external speech.
A positive English account posted October 7, with 60 minutes at review, describes roughly half an hour of confusion before the game clicked. The reviewer emphasizes agreeing on communication methods, including board knocks, with teammates. Their account preserves a useful counterexample: a learning period can become shared understanding rather than a reason to abandon the channel. Neither report identifies an executable build.
Players taken by the demon join the dead and can help search and communicate. That keeps death connected to a useful role without claiming it is harmless to the group’s chances. The tradeoff is that restrictions make interpretation a shared task, while also creating room for a message to fail despite a ghost knowing the answer. The consequential question is what your friends actually received. A ghost can know the safe route and the correct name; the living still need enough of both to finish the job before sunrise.
Sources & context
The official description establishes asymmetric information, relic collection and the name-spelling requirement. It also advertises lights, doors, physical sensations and a conditional scream, so the board is not described here as the sole communication channel. Timing, transcription tolerance and network behavior were not tested. Two full accounts were selected from the first three excerpts of ten recent all-language/all-purchase reports: one Russian negative and one English positive. Their contrast concerns communication, not measured prevalence or current-build reliability.

One mechanic, the decision it creates, and a little dry humor.
